LIVADE

The railway station, deep in the woods, was equipped with three overtaking and the same number of stabling tracks, intended for loading wood for building and heating, wine and worked stone from a quarry at St. Stjepan. In the first few years, the station at Livade had a small house with a porch, constructed differently than other station buildings in 1908. There were special warehouses for coal used for the operation of trains, heating of the passenger building and other facilities. 

In the life of Parenzana, an important role was played by a nice madam Bertossa, former manager of the hotel at Livade and later of a buffet at the train station, who offered the passengers a snack for a few centimes whenever the train arrived to Livade and to her buffet.

Well-preserved facilities in their original form can be seen only at the Livade station, with the exception of the water station for the supply of locomotives, which was fed from a spring on the edge of the forest,  now interrupted by the access road. Close to the railroad facilities, one can notice much thinned remains of the Motovun Forest. Today there is a small museum at Livade where, through photographs, documents and an interactive map, visitors can learn about and pass over the entire route in a transparent way, as well as get an insight into the importance of the railway for the life of the then population.
