SEČOVLJE

The station at Sečovlje was of the utmost importance for the transport of salt from the salt-pans and coal from a nearby mine. The station of the second category, equipped with bridge scales for weighing precious white and black cargo, is well preserved.

The Sečovlje salt-pans are the northernmost operational salt-pans in the Mediterranean. In the northern part of the salt-pans, salt is still produced in the traditional way. In the southern part there is the Museum of Salt-making where visitors learn about the way of life of salt workers from the Middle Ages to the present day.
