ROUTE – Vižinada – Špinovci – Rakotule – Karojba – Kranceti – Motovun

In the wake of Parenzane

The section starts at the Parenzana rest area in Vižinada (along the county road ŽC 5209) and heads towards Rakotule. After approximately 3 km you will reach the Sabadin viaduct (length: 64 m, height: 20 m) and the eponymous stream trickling beneath it while flowing into the River Mirna. Further 2 km will take you to the Rakotule rest area and lookout where a railway station used to be. The lookout offers a beautiful view of the valley of the River Mirna and the town of Motovun. While heading towards Motovun (approx. 2.5 km), you will reach the next viaduct Krvar (length: 40 m, height: 15 m). Even beneath this viaduct there is an intermittent stream flowing into the largest Istrian river - Mirna. In about 2.5 km you will pass through the small village of Kranceti, and soon reach a lookout and a rest area with a view of Motovun. Parenzana continues through a lamp-lit 222 m long tunnel through the Motovun hill and continues downhill to Livade.
