POREČ

The Poreč Railway Station at Pical, with five tracks, a building of the first category, warehouses and a turntable was the biggest station of the Parenzana Railway. It was planned to construct two branches, one to the port for direct handling of goods from the train to a steamer and the other one to Kanfanar, so that Parenzana would be connected with the state railway line to Pula. For that reason, the official designation of the railway was TPC (Trieste-Parenzo-Canfanaro). When it became clear that the planned branches would not be constructed, the Poreč station got a depot for locomotives. The station building has been preserved almost in its original form.
