OPRTALJ

The Oprtalj Railway Station was located under a small village of Grimalda on the most technically challenging section of the route where it penetrates deepest into the Istrian wilderness. The station had a small house with a porch, a small warehouse and a short stabling track. A steep, about three kilometres long road leads from the station to the village of Oprtalj, used by the inhabitants of this once densely populated area where at the beginning of the 20th century the Parenzana railway was the most important transport link with the world. Today there is no trace of the former station, located near the impressive viaduct with six arches bridging the valley of Mlinska dolina.
